Welcome to State Street Counseling!
Hello! We want to welcome you to our site and introduce you to our agency. Our therapists Rachael, Cortney, and Emily are committed to providing high quality, evidence-based therapy services to all ages and stages. We individualize our approach based on the client's needs using a variety of well researched techniques.
The three of us have worked in the Cedar Valley together as colleagues in the mental health field for the last 4 years, and realized we share a passion for bridging the gap in mental health services and providing highly effective therapy services. We strive to meet the needs of the Cedar Valley community and are always seeking to improve upon our skills. Here's a little bit more about each of our therapists:
Cortney graduated from the University of Northern Iowa's Master's in Social Work program and has provided therapy services for the school system since acquiring her degree. She is a registered play therapist, which means she provides specialized therapy services to children ages 3-11. She is also trained in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), which can be used with children to help with trauma, anxiety, and other disorders. Cortney has a strong passion for working with children and has been working with this population for the last 8 years.
Rachael has been serving in the mental health field for the last 10+ years, and most recently has served as the mental health therapist for the Allen Child Protection Center in Waterloo. Rachael graduated in 2011 from the University of Texas at Austin with her Master's in Social Work, and has since been providing therapy services for a variety of populations. She is extensively trained in working with eating disorders, as well as trauma and abuse. She is EMDR and TF-CBT (trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy) trained, and utilizes yoga techniques as well. She sees clients ages 11 and up, including younger and older adults.
Emily attended the University of Northern Iowa and received her Master's in Social Work. She has been working in the mental health field for 10 years and has a passion for working with teens and young adults. She is trained in EMDR and is working on her advance certification. She is also trained in TF-CBT and also provides faith-based counseling. Emily specializes in working with bi-polar disorder, depression, anxiety, mood disturbance, LGTBQ-related issues, and trauma.
Please feel free to shoot us a message or give us a call if you have any questions. We look forward to continuing to serve the Cedar Valley!
